Bikes For Sale

Buying a second hand bike can mean that you get a quality bike for less. But it can also be potentially hazardous. There are certain things you need to check for when you are looking at second hand bikes for sale to make sure you buy the best possible bike.

The frame is the most important part of the bike. Check all the welds on the frame and look for cracks in the head tube. Look for dents all over the bike as well. If there is anything more than a few minor cosmetic imperfections, do not buy the bike.

Take all second hand bikes for sale out for a test drive. This is the easiest way to check the brakes, handlebars and seat of the bike. These are not that expensive to repair, so if you are looking at a great deal, it may be worth buying the bike and replacing the part.

The drive train will indicate how well the previous owner cared for their bike. If the drive train is dirty this is pretty much a sign that the bike has been neglected and should alert you to check for other issues. When you take the bike out for a test drive, pedal as hard as you can and check that the gears do not skip or slip. As with the brakes, if you are looking at a great deal, it may be worth buying the bike and replacing the part.
