Bike Parts

Bike parts will help you tackle the hill faster, harder and with more moxie. They could be the difference between hitting it just right and failure. So where do you start? You have the bike, now what? Well let's start at the saddle.

A well-made and well-measured saddle is going to keep you on your bike longer and give you a higher quality of ride. It is possible to buy a saddle that can match the size of your behind perfectly. You will need to go into a store and have a mold taken out of memory foam. Wait a couple of weeks and you will have a saddle that fits just right. If you can't find such a store or you do not feel comfortable getting measured, then you will need to buy one straight from the shelf. Never fear, there are still some quality saddles out there. When you buy a new saddle, expect a few weeks of discomfort. Just like a new pair of shoes, you have to break it in. It is a good idea to wear padded shorts during this time.

Wheels are major bike parts. The bike would be just a shell without them. Look at the tires; the lighter the better because when you are riding the weight of the tire is  doubled because it is rotational mass. Fun science fact.

Brakes have saved many riders from a nasty crash. Your brakes will wear down after a while but the good news is that they are easily replaceable and reasonably inexpensive. The best types of brakes are hydraulic brakes. If you cannot get these then the next best option is mechanical disk brakes. The list of bike parts you can buy goes on and on. Ride with what feels comfortable and if you think your performance is suffering, upgrade until you have the perfect, flawless ride.
